After much planning, packing, organizing, driving, flying and waiting. We made it to Austin, Texas.
We started our jouney by packing up all of our wordly belongings and hiring a moving company to drive them to Austin. We started this much earlier than we had planned after the moving company recommended we have everything on a truck by the 22nd in order to have our belongings the following Friday, more of this to come.....
We had a beautiful christmas day with my Mom and Zoe, Tasha, Bill and Linda in Mountain View. We also tried out the sedatives for Meisha that day. I have never seen that dog so mellow in my whole life, not to mention the fact that she was completely cross eyed. BLESS...
So mission accomplished the sedatives worked and they would be a great help to Doug on the road to Texas with two cats and a Husky.
Boxing Day was perfect. Donna put on the most beautiful spread of food, cheese fondue, prime rib the works, she even had a choclate fountain. Magda made the drive from San Jose with the boys and Vanessa, Gabe & Janette were all there to send us off. It was a really special day for us and a wonderful reminder of how much we are loved and love our friends.
The next day December 27th Doug was off and on the road to Texas. Of all the things that we thought through the one thing we didn't think of was snow. Not just snow but blizzards. Doug followed the storms from California all the way through Texas. He was in the middle of two blizzards one between Barstow and Bakersfield and one south of Tuscon in Arizona. Crazy weather but my beautiful determined husband made it through. Administiring sedatives to the crazed cats every four hours in the back of the car.
Doug arrived in Austin on December 29th early enough to meet the movers.......plenty early enough. We soon found out that our "trusty" movers hadn't even left California yet. today is Wednesday January 3rd and we're still waiting
December 30th after two hour delay from snow storms and drama at the airport trying to get my Shaggy Woo Woo on the plane Shaggy and I finally arrived in Austin around 8:00 p.m.
As I sit here in my empty apartment with all the animals finally content and settled I'm truly happy that we're here. I have fallen in love with Doug all over again, he has taken care of all of us and I know we will always take care of each other. It's like I said to him when I first fell in love with him "I could live with him in an empty box" and this empty apartment has just confirmed that all we need is each other.
Talk about a great love story! I wish you both continued happiness!
